Main objective of this study is to identify the relationship among the demographic factors and the major factors inducing the work life balance. Data for the study has been gathered from 220 respondents which includes 69 IT employees, 104 school teachers and 47 self-employed married women employees. Collected data are subjected to descriptive statistics like mean and standard deviation, ANOVA and Pearson Correlation. Age, weekly working hours, years of experience, monthly income, family monthly income are the personal factors and work load and responsibilities (WLR), Work Environment (WE), Feelings about Work (FAW), Family Dependents (FD) and Absence from Work (AFW) are the organizational factors considered for the study. The study found that the FD is significantly associated with the age group at 1% level of significance. WE and FD are significantly affiliated with the years of experience at 5% significance level. WLR and WE possesses significant rapport with the weekly working hours at 1% level. WLR, WE, FAW and FD are strongly associated with the monthly income at 1% significant level. WLR, WE and FAW has a significant bond with the monthly family income of the respondents at 1% level of significance. Recommendations such as rise in salary, job sharing and sharing of commitments at non-work domains namely family are provided.Keywords

Main purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between the predictors of the investment activities with that of the savings behaviour and also to find out the most influencing construct of the savings behaviour among the households. For this purpose, the data has been collected from 125 households in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry through convenience sampling technique. Financial knowledge, ancestral socialization, fellow citizen socialization, peer inspiration, self-determination, will power and motivation of savings are the predicting constructs of such savings behaviour. Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis are the statistical tools used for the study. Study found a significant relationship among all the predictors with that of the savings behaviour except the motivation of savings construct and the ancestral socialization is the most inducing factor of the savings behaviour of the households. Suggestions such as investments in diverse investment avenues to meet the different commitments accordingly have been provided.Keywords

The process of retaining the best human resources within a organisation is known as employee retention. Such employee retention is induced by many factors, which change from individual to individual depending upon various reasons. So, for this purpose, this study has tried to identify the factors influencing the retention of 250 employees working in different manufacturing firms in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. For this purpose, the factors such as financial and non-financial benefits, organisation’s sense of belongingness, occupational relationships, organisational policies, professional environment, employee empowerment, work-life balance and quality of life are considered as the influencers of employee retention in this study. Collected data are analysed using reliability and validity analysis, Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis. Pearson correlation showed that except occupational relationships and the quality of life, all other influencers are significantly associated with employee retention. Multiple regression analysis projected that the quality of life is the highest influencer and the organisational policies are the lowest inducing construct of the employee’s retention. Suggestions such as flexi-time, better pay, proper allowances, alternative work timings and employees grievance redressal are provided.Keywords

Loyalty and dedication workers have towards their organization are known as the organizational commitments of the workers. Such professional commitment is influenced by many factors. The main purpose of the study is to identify the constructs inducing the organizational commitment of the workers. For this purpose, the data has been collected from 184 service industry employees in Puducherry region of Puducherry U.T. Factors such as work atmosphere, professional relationships, organizational policies, organizational support and work family balance are considered as the influencers of the study. Such data has been analysed using Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis. Study identified that organizational support, work atmosphere and professional relationships are significantly associated with the organizational commitment. Among the influencers, organizational policies are the highest influencer of the professional commitment whereas the work atmosphere is the least-inducing construct of organizational commitment. Suggestions such as better organizational policies like flexi time, paid vacations and employee grievances redressal are provided to improve the organizational commitment of the workers.Keywords
